Dr. B. R. Ambedkar Govt. Polytechnic was established in the year 1984 and Second Govt. Polytechnic was established in the year 1989 in the same campus has been renamed as Dr. B. R. Ambedkar Institute of Technology on 16th April 2010. Dr. B. R. Ambedkar Institute of Technology offers Degree, Diploma in Engineering apart from various maritime programmes.
