The A.S.Patil College of Commerce is an independent commerce college established in June, 1961 with 63 students then. Now the college is in huge campus of 8 acres with well maintained lush-green garden. It has grown like a big banyan tree and approximately 1200 students are studying in this temple of learning. The college is permanently affiliated to the Karnataka University, Dharwad (KUD) since 19th December, 1966. This premier institution owes its existence to the liberal and generous donation by Atalatti Siddanagouda Patil and is named after him. The college is listed under both, 12(b) and 2f of the UGC Act, 1956 and has been receiving grants since the third plan period. The college has a glorious tradition of 48 years of its existence in the service to the society. It has been enjoying a higher degree of credibility and trust from the society in general and the students in particular. The college has bagged 33 University Ranks and 9 Gold Medals in different subject since its inception. During the last five years, the college has secured 7 Ranks out of which 3 are first ranks to the KUD and a subject gold medal. It is short listed as “College with potential for Excellence” by UGC, New Delhi in its D.O.No.F-12-1/2008 (NS/PE) Dated 15 September, 2009 and the same is posted in the UGC website www.ugc.ac.in. Our college has been accredited at the B++ level by NAAC on 16th September, 2004
